It looks like no collaboration is off-limits on this new period of chaos advertising (see: the brand new Tresemmé sizzling sauce), and whereas a number of these meals collaborations balloon into surrealist territory that steers them away from model authenticity, I’m completely right here for the fantasy that OLIPOP is pitching us, which is that of a “Time Journey Company” takeover of the Austin Motel from June 24 to July 8.
As OLIPOP explains, “friends can enter for an opportunity to win considered one of three immersive, soda-inspired suites [that bring] an OLIPOP taste to life by the lens of a distinct decade.” Along with the Cherry Cola Suite, there may even be a 1986 Cream Soda Suite decked out in pastel stripes, neon lights, and retro arcade particulars…
The entire rooms really feel impressed by theatrically embellished, vintage-inspired accommodations and motels like the long-lasting The Madonna Inn (as seen in lots of a photograph shoot and music video), upstate New York’s The Roxbury (identified for its coconut-cream-pie-themed room), and the quite a few themed {couples}’ accommodations within the Poconos. Over time, Airbnb and different manufacturers have supplied elaborate, raffle-based themed lodge stays — typically, to promote the likes of Hocus Pocus 2 or Shrek (the latter of which had an unimaginable swamp set-up), so it’s really good to see one other firm throw its trip hat into the ring in a manner that doesn’t really feel haphazardly inauthentic.
In any case, I’ll completely co-sign the creation of extra kitsch lodge rooms, notably when it looks like America’s personal retro love accommodations are more and more going out of enterprise.
Will OLIPOP proceed to dip its toes into extra experimental — and experiential — advertising strategies à la Liquid Loss of life? Time will inform if the corporate veers into related shock advertising territory, however I hope it stays the course of curating activations with identification coherency. Oh, and shag rugs.
Be taught extra about how one can keep at OLIPOP’s themed rooms right here.
