It is uncommon as of late for an artist to ask for fewer microphones, however after warming up in our house, Billy Strings did simply that. Surrounded by his band, the bluegrass virtuoso brings again the spirit of Tiny Desk’s early days. We seize, in his personal phrases, “the way in which these devices are supposed to sound.”
“We have been fortunate to play plenty of cool venues,” Strings says, pausing to mirror. “However this one’s completely different. It has that very same soul to it as a result of — I’ve seen so many superb performances that occurred proper right here and I sort of consider that love and spirit sort of soaks into this setting, so simply standing right here seems like a particular factor.”
Strings discovered his roots in bluegrass from his dad.
